David C. Lewis on being a messenger - Part 2

I continue my fascinating conversation with David C. Lewis, spiritual head of The Hearts Center Community and messenger of the Great White Brotherhood.

Q. Would you say that humility is one of the qualities ascended masters look for in a messenger?

A. That's one of the preeminent qualities, and I actually gave a teaching on this recently. Another major quality is that the messenger must be heart-centered and have great love and a desire to serve humanity. And then really, to me, the greatest component and requirement of being a messenger is the Holy Spirit, because you can mentally convey teachings as a teacher, but the fire and radiation that the masters want to deliver can only really come by the power of the Holy Spirit. So the anointing that occurs and the mantle that descends on any true messenger, including Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov, is a grace and it is the power of the Holy Spirit. I have witnessed to a number of other true messengers that have come to the earth in support of the Brotherhood or Jesus' mission, such as Kathryn Kuhlman, Elizabeth Clare Prophet, Michael Beckwith of the Agape Church in California, and Sister Natacha Kolesar of the IDEAL Society in Canada. All these individuals have mantles of light based on their spiritual disciplines, but also, primarily, the development of their hearts, their heart-mind connection with God and their desire to serve and not simply to be looked upon as a great teacher or a messenger.

Q.  Are you saying that it's possible for the ascended masters to work through more than one messenger at the same time?

A.  Oh, absolutely. And I think that no one individual can really convey the totality of their message world-wide to many cultures, to many languages, to many streams of awareness. So there are many who are called to deliver a message, even within the churches and even outside of organizations. So there can be an individual who is relatively unknown by the world, but who can be a clear voice for the Brotherhood for humanity in a certain strata of consciousness or awareness, to a certain culture. And this is the beauty of the golden age that is dawning, that we each sit under our own vine and fig tree. We are each a messenger in our own right of our gift, of our particular expression of the Godhead. And whether it's art, music, literature, science or whatever endeavor, each of us has a voice, and each of us has something to beautifully render and convey. And so what we're coming to understand now is that it's about all of us rather than just one or a few of us.

Q.  So we can all be more or less messengers?

A.  Yes, but it may take different forms. It's not that everybody is receiving dictations directly from many ascended masters. There are some people, who, even in the Catholic tradition, are receiving locutions from Jesus or Mother Mary. And when you read the message, it's very beautiful. It can be profound and it can be for a particular group of people. And, in some cases, those locutions don't speak about reincarnation. They're more in the framework of a message for people who are within that Catholic tradition. But it doesn't in any way lessen or demean the fact that these individuals are seeing or hearing Mother Mary or Jesus and conveying their message, their love, their light to the people. So, in a sense, they are messengers.

They may not be in the same office as one who is called on behalf of the Universal Great White Brotherhood with the clear knowledge of hierarchy and to deliver many dictations from many ascended masters, such as Guy Ballard and Mama Ballard, Geraldine Innocente, and Mark and Elizabeth Clare Prophet have done. So there are different streams, different dispensations and it's all wonderful because when an individual really has placed God first and desires serving humanity and serving God, they can be utilized by the Holy Spirit. Benny Hinn is another example. In his service, the power of the Holy Spirit is definitely there. He is a clear voice for a certain group of people. It's a different calling than what I'm called to, but it doesn't make it any less important. In fact, he's able to contact many, many Christians and bring them to a higher understanding of who the Holy Spirit is, who Jesus really is and convey healing and love and the power of the Holy Spirit to thousands.

Q.  Are there any other people in the past or present whom you consider messengers?

A.  The Agni Yoga Society had in the early 20th Century the writings of Nicholas and Helena Roerich, and I believe that those were absolutely conveyed and inspired by El Morya and the Maha Chohan and other masters. So I consider them absolutely true messengers. Even Madame Blavatsky was a messenger. In today's world there may be many, who we are outwardly not aware of, who are reaching a certain group of people. I think the key is to discern with the Holy Spirit the universal truths that are inherent within the message.

I think Wayne Dyer, in his own way, is a messenger of light. He has a message that's very beautiful on intention, and in some of the other books that he's written and what he conveys. Even someone like Dannion Brinkley is a messenger in his own right because he has contacted God. He has had a number of near-death experiences, and has been given instructions on what to reveal to mankind. He has done so in his books and many of his lectures and in his circuit that he travels.

So there are many who are called and some may be a little purer vessel than others, but the one thing to warn against is people that just channel all manner of discarnates and aliens, UFOs, beings from other planets. I don't consider those the pure stream. So there has to be a certain amount of discernment when you get into this realm, because there are many, many false messengers out there who claim to be messengers. I ran into some of these at Mt. Shasta this past weekend. They gave information that was not pure, that was not clear. So people latch on to some of this. There may be a number of truths within it, but it's obvious that there are some jaded concepts or errors in doctrine that one has to be very discernful of and careful of.

Q.  Do you think the various separate ascended master organizations will ever overcome their differences and work together for the good of humanity?

A.  I made the comment two days ago at Uncle Kenneth's memorial service that it's time for us to put aside these differences, but it won't come until more people have the Holy Spirit and can see beyond outer organizations and particular cliques and groups of people that think that they have an edge on spirituality, or the highest way, or the only way.

And so, within the Hearts Center, we have certain parameters for our understanding that people can progress on their personal path according to their desired rate and there's no membership, per se. I have purposefully done this because we don't want to label people. We don't want there to be problems in terms of people feeling like they have to be in a certain niche or in a certain audience that is exclusive. We're very inclusive. I mean, we do hold to certain universal truths, and there is discernment. It's not like we're just a free-for-all of any spiritual group.

And we promote, and I have personally promoted, the teachings of Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov, because I feel they're completely pure and true. And I will continue to do so, as well as the teachings through Mark and Elizabeth Clare Prophet and some of the other dispensations I've mentioned. But it would be really wonderful if the leaders and some of the members of these organizations who have a common thread of understanding of the Universal Great White Brotherhood could work together and come together. We have done that with the IDEAL Society and they've come to our various events. And we've invited Sister Natacha to share along with Gilles Hainault, and it's been wonderful because every word that I've heard I think is absolutely beautiful and I don't disagree with anything. So there are times when we can really interact with some spiritual groups who are open to this possibility and thereby both of us grow through the interactivity and the sharing. And I think that's what the ascended masters want, that's what Lanello wants, what Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov wants. And if we can be open to those possibilities, we can do greater work, in my opinion.

Q.  I have the Circle of Love and Light teleconference call twice a month, and there are people from the Hearts Center, the Summit Lighthouse, the Worldwide Ashram, New Wisdom University, Omraam communities, and Peter Deunov communities. it would be great if something like this would spread. Do you think the teachings of Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov is the key to unifying the various groups?

A.  Absolutely. They're so simple but so profound, and they're so pure. And I really feel that they are a part of the Everlasting Gospel. And I've stated publicly, and I know you have even commented on it in some of your writings, that he is a World Teacher just as Jesus and Kuthumi are. So, in other dispensations, they talk of Jesus and Kuthumi, but I have added that as my understanding of his very, very universal appeal and his authoritative voice for this age for cosmic truths to come forth. And it is a different voice. He doesn't always use the exact same verbiage, lexicon or vocabulary, but the essence of it, the core of it is the same as the teachings I'm familiar with through my upbringing.
