Poly (polyamory) Living conference 2009, May 29 -31

Polyamory is the desire, practice, or acceptance of having more than one loving, intimate relationship at a time with the full knowledge and consent of everyone involved. People who identify as polyamorous typically reject the view that sexual and relational exclusivity are necessary for long-term loving relationships. Those who are open to, or emotionally suited for, a polyamorous lifestyle may be single or in monogamous relationships, but are more typically involved in multiple long term relationships.

Polyamorous relationships, in practice, are highly varied. Ideally they are built upon values of trust, loyalty, and negotiation, as well as rejection of jealousy, possessiveness, and restrictive cultural standards. Such relationships are often more fluid than the traditional "dating and marriage" model of long-term relationships, and the participants in a polyamorous relationship may not have preconceptions as to duration.

Therefore, if you are new or well-acquainted with the poly lifestyle, Poly Living 2009 is the conference for you!

For an example of one of the weekend's workshops:
Ecstasy of Tantra, with Evalena Rose

Learn ancient arts of connection and conscious sensuality that deepen
connection with yourself, others, and all of life. Enhance your capacity
for intimacy through safe, sacred, heart-centered interactions. Discover
how breath practices, movement, imagery, and ritual deepen connections,
enhance pleasure, and help you move kundalini through the body. Open to
your full sexual aliveness and experience the depths our breath can open
within us.

Explanation and demonstration of running energy as an ecstatic followed
by breathing practice, dyadic heart-centered exercises, and a tantric
ritual that gives many appetizers of the amazing banquet Tantra has to
offer. Equally enjoyable with a poly pod, and guidance will be given for
multiple partner exchanges. Enjoy learning more about erotic
communication and how everyone can get what they want in ways everyone wins.

The defining characteristic of polyamory is belief in the possibility of, and value of, multiple romantic loving relationships carried out "with the knowledge and consent of all partners concerned." What distinguishes polyamory from traditional forms of non-monogamy (i.e. "cheating") is an ideology that openness, goodwill, intense communication, and ethical behavior should prevail among all the parties involved. Some consider polyamory to be, at its root, the generalization of romantic couple-love beyond two people into something larger.
