Almost everyone suffers from a headache from time to time, but most don't realize that often these headaches can be cured with very simple methods.
Headaches come in many varieties from
hangovers to
tension_headaches to
migraine_headaches. So many times we ignore what our body is trying to tell us, and when it comes to headaches, it is the body's way of knocking you on the head and yelling "hello! Listen to me!"
One common example of the body's need for change is the hangover. Of course the best thing to do is not drink too much alcohol in the first place. However, once this transgression has taken place, it is best to listen to the body's complaint and do the best that can be done to undo the damage. Often times the hangover is simple dehydration. A night of heavy drinking tends to dehydrate. Ethanol increases the production of urine, which pulls the fluids from the body and exits them through the kidneys and bladder, which is why the sufferer has a dry mouth, nausea and a headache. Simply drinking a glass of water before bed, and a glass upon arising is often the best prevention and cure for any hangover.
Tension headaches are cause by--well, tension. It seems self explanatory, but much can be done to prevent and relieve these miserable headaches naturally. Try deep breathing, meditation, a relaxing bath, or a nice walk in the park. Try getting some fresh air or have a massage. If it is still difficult to relax try taking some herbal supplements such
passion_flower or
Kava_kava. Both are wonderful herbs to relax and are mild sedatives.
Migraine headaches can be caused by many triggers, and it is important to listen to the body and avoid these triggers at all cost. When a migraine begins, it is always best to lie in the dark, and try to relax. Any tension or confusion only adds to the effect of the migraine. Sometimes cayenne pepper applied to the forehead, the back of the neck and the soles of the feet is beneficial for relieving a migraine. Other methods are to apply heat to the forehead and ice (wrapped in a thin cloth) to the back of the neck and alternate forehead to neck every few minutes. Both of these methods work by increasing circulation.
Fenugreek can be taken orally and has been shown to reduce inflammation, thereby allowing healthy circulation as well. Relaxation techniques can also lessen the severity of a migraine headache.
One common problem which creates headaches is autotoxification, or the buildup of toxins in the body. Constipation is the leading cause of autotoxification, and it is much more common than one would anticipate. Statistics show that women are twice as likely as men to be constipated, and often only eliminate three times a week. Most don't even realize that the body should eliminate waste 2 to 3 times per day! It becomes obvious why this is such a problem. One good way to quickly get rid of toxins is to cleanse the colon. This can be done numerous ways. The first and most simple of all is to drink more fluids, naturally allowing nature to take its course. A glass of prune juice is mild and effective to assist in elimination. Over the counter teas and laxatives can help as well. Colon cleanse kits help immensely to remove the buildup from the wall of the colon. For optimum colon health and to decrease toxins always consume a high fiber diet, and drink plenty of water.
