According to Dr. C Roy Hunter, MS, FAPHP, Certified Hypnotherapist and an Author of the book “Parts Therapy” from Crown House Publishing. State that it’s based on the concept that our personality is composed of various parts, or aspects of the subconscious, each with their respective jobs or functions of the inner mind. In other words, we wear different hats as we walk through the path of life. Other techniques are similar, such as: ego state therapy, voice dialogue, sub personalities, conference room therapy, and more. What makes parts therapy client centered is that each part in the process provides its own name and job purpose for the client. Also, parts therapy incorporates deep hypnosis. Of all the variations, ego state therapy most closely resembles parts therapy, in that it is also client centered and incorporates hypnosis as well. Hypnosis improves the chances of lasting success.
Now the way I understand Part therapy, is very simple, just a communication skills between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind of the specific “body parts”, when a hypnotherapist work with clients, the purpose is to have the client relaxed in a trance mood using hypnotic suggestions, then proceed with the actual communicating, kind of like between two individuals, only that this is done between the therapist and the client, using the key question “W” ( who, what, when and why) letting the part to respond back with an answer.
See it like a dispute between two people of o different mind set… as we know, there are also cases where a wrong was committed by the defendant, same with client’s body parts… The therapy starts with a schedule for discovery, then an exchange of information between opposing parties “Plaintiff- Client vs. Defendant -Body Part”... Both the plaintiff and the defendant have the constitutional right to a jury trial, when the purpose is to end the Case without a Trial, so both parties are happy.
Another way you can see this type of healing done is like drama therapy, psychotherapy, where all link to one thing, creative therapy using your imaginations or by visualization...
Let me give you an example of how the part therapy metaphors does help clients/patients to get in touch with the painful part without feeling threatened or experiencing a emotional and the physical trauma, while the part is aided by the internal figures of the metaphor to understand the human psyche. The description of the use of part therapy is to allow this creative communication between the parts, so the client can recognize and deal with the emotional parts in a different way and not in a threatening way, when at the same time all parts come to an agreement, like Roy Hunters says: "It is How a therapist can effectively help the client who struggles with an inner conflict, as someone strongly desiring a goal, but who also experiences self-sabotage, may be a prime candidate for PARTS THERAPY or one of its variations."
