Popular demand has prompted the Montrose Library to hold another introductory bookbinding class. Bookbinding for Beginners: Making Multi-Signature Books will be held on Saturday, March 13 at 1:00 pm in the library meeting room. It will be taught by Susan Palmer.

A signature is formed by gathering pages one inside the other.  All hardcover books are bound this way, with multiple signatures inside their covers. This class will teach how to create a "real" and professional-looking book.

The class is free, but students are asked to bring the following materials:

  • good paper scissors
  • notebook
  • four pieces of wax paper - 10" x 10" minimum
  • an old but absorbent wash cloth or rag
  • sturdy ruler
  • a spoon or butter knife to make creases
  • embroidery needles, extra if possible for sharing

No refreshments are allowed to avoid spills. Students may bring bottled water only, no open cups.

The class is limited to 16 participants. Call Meg at 964.2548 to register.
