Disbarred 75 year old 'Barbara C. Johnson' takes on the judicial system: Behind the Black Robes

Amazon.com File Photo

Barbara C. Johnson was born in Boston in 1934. She grew up in Newton, Massachusetts a suburb of Boston known at the time for its fine public schools. She received her B.A. from Bennington College in Vermont and entered the New England School of Law at the age of 49. In 1987, she received her J.D.

In an interview with Hank Richards from the Examiner,  Ms. Johnson said she was ‘called to the stage during her NESL graduation ceremony and received the West Publishing Company Corpus Juris Secundum Series Award (1987) for the highest annual scholastic average.’

She began her two decades as a sole-practitioner in civil and criminal litigation in State and Federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels.

As a member of the Children's Rights Council panel, she addressed a joint state-congressional committee on a shared-parenting bill. As an activist-attorney, she received a Woman of the Year award from the Fatherhood Coalition.

Her activism had grown out of her early outside interests. As a film consultant, she advised the Massachusetts Bar Association's Bicentennial Committee. She conceived, produced and moderated 'Think Tank,' a cable-TV series (Continental Cablevision in Newton) on local government and business.

In 2002, she ran a quixotic campaign for governor, campaigning in an antique fire truck and promising to use creativity, compassion and a willingness to listen to the people to mend an ailing government.

On August 9, 2006,  Justice Francis X. Spina signed an order of disbarment against  Barbara C. Johnson and she was forbidden from practicing law effective September 8, 2006.

At her hearing Ms. Johnson, a fiery and unconventional 75 year old, was quoted as saying, ‘No - damn it, no. Unless you’re willing to agree that you have a kangaroo court here, you cannot say that to me . . . that's a wagon of detritus, cow chips, horse manure . . . the disbarment by this kangaroo court is an effort to silence my criticism of the courts.’

Barbara C. Johnson during her campaign bid for Governor

Johnson has long been a fierce advocate for fathers' rights in family courts. She is an outspoken critic of the Massachusetts court system, which she says is rife with corruption.

Her aggressive nature and quest for court reform brings her book, Behind the Black Robes: Failed Justice, to the market.

According to some legal reviews, many agree with her position about the legal system.

‘The book addresses a serious problem - the need for court reform and the abolishment of judicial immunity. The book is filled with the courts’ tricks and traps for the unwary and tries to alert readers both why their law cases fail and what must be done to effect court reform. Each chapter presents a series of illustrations intended to teach the readers by example how to avoid those court tricks and traps that people are likely to encounter in their existing or potential court cases’ says one reviewer.

A newspaper once wrote, ‘While we don't fully agree with either her politics or her methods, Johnson is a character in a humdrum world sorely in need of more characters. She's the thorn in the side, the thumbtack on the chair . . . Johnson speaks her mind, and loudly.'

Another review states that ‘if we do nothing, the country will continue to drift slowly from bad to worse. Only continuing civil disobedience, demonstrations, including the recent much-laughed-at  Tea Parties must first take place. Bets are on that the U.S. system will collapse after a severe energy shortage.

When the voting public finally becomes active and educated as to what kind of person they should elect to governmental office, only then can the evolutionary process begin’ – anonymous.

Barbara is currently working on two more nonfiction books to help people who are representing themselves in family court. When finished with the nonfiction, she is planning to switch back to fiction or faction.

This 75 year old world traveler is a divorced woman with two sons and five grandchildren. She can be reached by e-mail at barbjohnson74@gmail.com .

Barbara has been a tireless advocate on behalf of fathers and she has worked many, many hours pro bono in her prior law practice fighting for father's rights to their children. I am sure that her book will have a wealth of knowledge in it for men struggling through divorce and custody issues...Bravo Barb, Bravo for writing this important book!

Barbara Johnson does honor to those Revolutionary firebrands of Massachusetts who with the Revolutionary leaders of Virginia and many of other states, gave their lives, their fortunes and sacred honor to give US this United States, and this Constitution. Sad so few judges have honor so abuse the trust of the People to silence an truly Honorable woman, not just a title.

One may discover to their surprise that it is not sensationalism what is said about Massachusetts courts and those of other states. It does not take a great deal of sleuthing to find out on one's own that there is something besides the law at play here. Combine some keen observations with the economic model that pays the courts for making business for themselves and you have a very successful racket that no lawyer (usually) dares to challenge.

Attorney Johnson has been a tireless campaigner for fundamental reforms. Especially in her titled expose to just one facet of the methods and means of the Administered American legal system.
Dickensian books describe well the times and ways of the writer Charles Dickens. Drawing upon legal characters such as MACawber in surmising the legal system with the statement 'The legal systems sole purpose is to make business for itself'. We may further describe other characters and the misery surrounding families and children, truly a result of modern day internal domestic legal practices. If I am not mistaken we appear to live in reality those fictional times albeit with more efficient technology and public media supported rhetoric.
The very nature of law has changed especially for the myriads who first hand can recount the administerial function of Judges as fiduciary. With no relationship to justice, morality or law. Do read the book and learn at the very least a very alarming proble

I worked with Barbara Johnson. Her situation deserves serious attention and action. Moreover, I am presently involved in a similar case where the attorney due to whistleblowing reported a wrongdoing and is now fighting for her bar license against the Florida Bar. This kind of oppression and attack on conscientious professionals must be stopped.

What "they" did to BJ is WRONG, but every day those responsible for the traumatic abuses and wrongdoing in the American Legal INJUSTICE System hurt and destroy INNOCENT individuals financially and otherwise, while there is no accountability with consequences. Most people falsely assume the right to a FAIR trial with an appropriate Defense and opportunity to right wrongs via appeal exist. FALSE Allegations without evidence or testimony to support it can immediately and forever remove someone from a home and family, denying all info and contact; while denying all falsely alleged rights and freedoms. Efforts to prevent or stop this kind of traumatic abuse and destruction require the united effort of many. Educate, inform, and motivate others to get involved. Pray for the noncustodial parents, kids, and others denied all info, TRUTH, and contact by abusive, alienating custodial parents and others; generally abusing police, court systems, and others to do so. YOU could be next!

Barbara is a force of nature. Rarely does an attorney have her grasp of the law and the ability to apply the facts to the law. A tireless researcher, She does her homework. Head and shoulders above most judges, she is a fearless advocate. Her pleadings are on point and her briefs, works of art. The majority of the bench sit because of who they knew and not what they know. As a result, ignorance, incompetence, and bias reign. Judges tend to be no more than politicians in black robes cloaked in absolute immunity.

Trial lawyers pray for an objective law judge ready, willing and able to apply facts to the law. It is not unusual for the facts of a case get distorted in order to fit a preordained agenda. Many times the fix is in before the trial begins. I witnessed it first hand when a judge told the plaintiff "If you win, I will reverse." (Judgment NOV)... and he did and imposed unwarranted costs and fees in a whistleblower case against his friends, local policians.

Since YOU MAY BE NEXT, YOU NEED THIS BOOK! FALSE Allegations, WRONGFUL Convictions, total INJUSTICE and Kangaroo Courts without appropriate accountability & consequences traumatically abuse and destroy individuals and families forever, financially and otherwise. FALSE Allegations with ZERO evidence and ZERO witnesses (ZERO probable cause) can lead to immediate removal from a home and family with total denial of all info and contact forever. FALSE Accusers and those assisting them are responsible for everything involved, yet BLAME those they traumatically destroy in their ongoing effort to remove their existence via police, courts, FALSE Allegations, and others. CHILDREN are traumatically abused and denied a parent, forever negatively affected by abusive alienation and hatred of a custodial parent and others. The entire legal INJUSTICE System is WRONG and must be changed to prevent and stop this kind of traumatic abuse and destruction. Get involved! Get informed!

For anyone that has been trapped in the system of family courts, everything in this book rings true. The functioning of the courts has nothing to do with serving justice. The court system functions serve the power and privilege of its members- the judges, lawyers, clerks, and their minions. At a trial or hearing, a judge does not try find the truth, but tries to find the path of least work, least time, and most profit to themselves and their cronies. Since they are completely unaccountable they can get away with this criminal behavior.

I am a lawyer and knows Barbara since the fifth grade. Politics of the woman's movement and unfair rules of court, now go too far. They stop fathers who are not abusive when woman lie, from fairly getting decisions for custody or even visitation. By court created rule the appellate courts in this state will only decide if the trial court abused its discretion even if it disagrees about the facts. This means no real appeal from 40 different views by any real standard. This is not law. It can be changed by court rule or legislation. None will do it so far. What happens? In December 2006 the Appeals Court of Ma. said a woman who was still committing adultery with her father, was correctly awarded custody, when the father of two little boys who had done nothing wrong, had little money and was working. It was so scared, it issued an injunction stopping the grandfather, not issued by lower court. Said mother no danger to kids. So Barbara pushed this system. So what. Who else was or is.

Judicial corruption is not new. Our ancestors adopted trial by jury because judges can't be trusted. However, we have adopted many kinds of judicial trials without juries that highlight the importance of jury verdicts, and the need to use juries in all the kinds of cases that don't use them today. That won't come about by litigation. We need legislation to require juries in family, probate, bankruptcy, equity, and other courts and cases.

One more thing. We need to repeal state bar acts. Legal malpractice should be tried only by lay juries, and it should not be possible for a judge to get a lawyer disbarred for challenging judicial corruption.

Kudos to Barbara for not taking judicial "guff." The judicial system was appropriated years ago by those "elites" in charge to render decisions favorable to those elites, not to the people our laws are supposed to protect. You can't build tyranny if you don't control the courts (and the media, and the essential industries, and so forth), so that explains the takeover. Then there's the issue of lawyers holding titles of nobility, which the founding fathers forbade in the Constitution, and then there's the story of the missing original 13th Amendment, which proffered a punishment for those holding titles of nobility. Not every lawyer is corrupt, of course, but since the entire system is corrupt, it's hard for anyone, including the honest lawyers, to find any justice. More people need to become educated about this and demand a judicial restoration, or else it will just continue on the road to hell.

Fmr Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor just met a delegation from China, according to the State Department's Press Secretary, on Fox News. He mentioned that Sandra Day O'Connor criticzed China...

... for disbarring attorneys who represent dissidents.

Yet we commit the same wrong here in the USA.

We recognize as a human rights violation targeting the lawyers of disfavored groups, and make it a diplomatic issue with China.

People need to understand that if the elites can intimidate your lawyer, then YOU DON'T HAVE A LEGAL DEFENSE.

All they have to do is threaten your lawyer with the loss of his or her career, and they can do whatever they want to you.

Do you think your lawyer is going to stand up for you if he is afraid that he will lose his entire career, what he trained for for years, went into debt in law school?

If they can intimidate your lawyer, they can take away your rights any time they want. You have no rights.

I have been a frequent user of the courts, mainly pro se, and not all of my experiences have been negative, although I have learned enough to know that our courts are fundamentally corrupt and dysfunctional. I successfully sued so that my wife could become an American citizen after we had already been married for 18 years, and I gained two settlements from employers for discrimination against me as a war veteran, which were as good or better than the law allowed. In litigation against government agencies, however, I have been improperly denied jury trial whenever the evidence indicated that I would win. A state judge dismissed a lawsuit based on his opinion of how a reasonable juror would decide. A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit against the University of North Carolina, citing a specific state law, which does not exist. Another based summary judgement on a precedent which states the opposite of what he said it did. We need Barbara Johnson because she tells the truth out loud.
