Fans of True Blood's Eric Northman crave to know more about his elusive character. On this week's episode, "Trouble", we get to have a look into Eric's past and what life was like for him before he became the Vampire Sheriff of Area 5.
****SPOILER ALERT****
We all know he's a Viking - a gorgeous warrior who led his men in battles. What we didn't know was that he was a actually the son of a king, which would make our beloved Eric a prince (which just adds one more reason to love Mr. Northman).
Eric goes to Russell Edgington's mansion to ask permission to hunt for Bill in Mississippi - he is placing the blame on Bill for the dealing of V in his area. While getting a tour of the magnificent home, Eric spots one of their collection of rare treasures: a Viking crown. Talbot, Russell's "child" and lover, had proclaimed to Eric that when Russell wants something, he takes it.
We see Eric's human life as a prince; irresponsible and not taking his role as future king seriously. A Casanova who shamelessly has relations with the redheaded girl who feeds the goats. His father tells him, "You can't spend your life between a woman's legs!" In which Eric replies, "I can try."
Bless him.
Wolves then terrorize their home, killing the king and queen and all people in the room except for Eric. They are commanded by a cloaked figure who's face we cannot see, only to assume it is Russell as the wolves stole the crown from the king's head. In the king's dying moment he tells Eric one word: vengeance.
Will Eric get his vengeance on the King of Mississippi for the slaughter of his entire family over 1,000 years ago? Keep watching to find out!
Next week's episode of True Blood, "I Got a Right to Sing the Blues" airs on HBO on Sunday night.
