Imagine you're at work, no matter what your profession, and there are strangers just outside watching your every move while you are trying to concentrate on your job. At the end of the day you are tired and want to rest, right? Now imagine going home to have more people hanging out in your front lawn, sitting on your porch, just waiting to talk to you and take your picture when you just want to go inside and relax.
That is how Alexander Skarsgård feels as well as most celebrities (some, however, eat up the attention).
SkarsgardNews.com recently released an announcement urging fans to respect him while he is filming his latest venture, Melancholia in his home country of Sweden. They officially have Skarsgård's representatives backing them up 100%.
Some people may say that since celebrities chose their field of work they should expect the fandom. Which is, to a point, true. But, those people that come into your homes through the television and entertain you on the big screen are just that: people. They deserve their privacy just like the rest of us do on a day-to-day basis.
There is nothing wrong with a chance meeting on the street, at a premiere or public event, but lingering in Alex's hotel lobby for the chance to meet him isn't a chance meeting. It has a word: it's called stalking. And while he may politely smile, take pictures with you and sign autographs, he may very well be screaming inside, but cannot do so outwardly. Do you want to be the cause of him feeling that way?
As the Alexander Skarsgård Examiner, I am backing up SkarsgardNews.com and any of the other fansites in their attempt to spread the word. Respect Mr. Skarsgård (and all celebrities for that matter). Let him do his job so he can continue to bring us the fantastic entertainment that he always provides on the small screen and the big screen.
Fans - please do not make him feel like a goldfish in a glass bowl while he is trying to work and live his day-to-day life.

I agree completely too. But to be honest, he will most likely not have to worry about at least Swedish "fans" stalking him during filming Melancholia. The hysteria isn't as bad here as it is in the US. Regardless - NO celebrity deserves the treatment Alex got in Shreveport.
We all admire him because of his work - he's VERY good-looking too, but we can't deny Alexander is a great actor. So, we should allow him to do what he does best in peace, right? I totally support this statement - he's not a goldfish. Let him work!!
What happened in Shreveport? I doubt he has to worry all that much about being stalked in Sweden. I think the celebrity worship is much more in the US.
Unfortunately, I think that a crazy stalker will not be deterred by a letter on one of his fan sites, whether or not his management agrees with the idea.
Funny how Skarsgard News has done an about face. Last year they were gleefully posting those Shreveport pictures that their members took with Alex. These same members that are now holier than thou chastising others not to do what they did themselves.
Thank you Melissa for posting this! I so support anything & everything to stop stalking of our beloved actors. They do NOT deserve to be hunted down like some kind of animal for the fans' selfish desires. & from what I have seen in the past from other actors I love, if the stalker fans do not stop, it could eventually cause Alex to quit being so nice to his fans at premieres & other events where it is OK for fans to approach him & we would not be able to blame him one bit either.
I don't understand all the fuss. You, his fans are making it worse than what it is. Like a earlier post said, if it is a stalker, that post by AS news will not stop the stalking. Alex is not Leo, Brad, or Keanu, so I do not understand the big deal.

Things are much different in Sweden than it is in the USA,when
it comes to Papparazzi~In Sweden they're not heard of.
Actors like Alexander and his father Stellen don't really have
to put up with the press trying to get their photos or trying to
catch them going out with their friends.
But in the USA things are much DIFFERENT!!!
Alexander burst onto the scene in 2008 after Season 1/Episode 4,
of TRUEBLOOD~and all hell broke loose!!
Fans wanted his photo,his autograph~then ComicCon was held in 2009 and things really GOT BAD!!!
Already this year he's almost been arrested by the cops for an
altercation in Chochella,CA when spotted with Kate Bosworth, his
co-star in the upcoming remake of Samuel Packinpaw's "StrawDog's"
The altercation: The Press wanted a photo of Alex & Kate together
Alexander wants to keep his "Private life PRIVATE" NOT Plastered,
all over the tabloids!!!
The Press kept on "pushing" and Alexander got MAD!!
Not for Kate,he would have been arrested

ok, you side with that site,great! totally agree! here's the rub, at least for me, why was that particular site so gleeful in posting fan meetings with skarsgard? why did that particular site post the name of the hotel? if i remember correctly this is the same site that once had a public discussion regarding the size of his penis.

Joe Namath lived~no,you had to search the papers to find out info.Now adays sites post the info online!!
Now when it comes to Alexander's fans beleive me when I say
we're all guilty of guessing things about him~especially body
parts like his "Gracious plenty"~We've seen it in video clips
of a film he had made!!
Alexander Johan Haljmar Skarsgard has done more for women's
fantasies than Tom Selleck as MAGNUM,PI. or Paul NEWMAN!!.

I know this is an old, old post by internet standards but I have to agree with the commenters who make the point that the Skarsgard "fan" sites are little more than thinly veiled enablers that promote when, where, and how to consume him (like a product to be bought off a shelf). Until those sites cease advertising/promoting paparazzi images AND images of him with "fans" I refuse to promote, visit or even mention them on my site, Twitter or Facebook pages. Seriously, all out consumption of a man because he's attractive and a celebrity is disturbing in my opinion and hiding behind "The Official..." blah blah blah site makes those site operators less part of a solution and more part of a vast and growing problem for A.S. and others like him.
