The season may be over, but Albert Pujols is still reaping the rewards. Thursday, he was announced as the winner of the National League Silver Slugger Award for first base.
This is Pujols' fifth Silver Slugger, and his third at first base. He's won one at third base and one in the outfield.
The offensive equivalent to the Gold Glove is given for each position in each league. Pujols, who led the NL in runs scored and home runs, was the only Cardinal to win the award. Yadier Molina and Adam Wainwright won Gold Gloves yesterday.
The biggest award is probably yet to come for Pujols. He is a favorite for the NL MVP award, which will be announced on Nov. 24.
