Governor Sean Parnell has competition for his job.
Today, Republican candidate Bill Walker, the legal counsel for the Alaska Port Authority, and a lawyer with Walker and Levesque, declared his candidacy for Alaska's top spot--you remember, the governor's office that Sarah Palin decided was too hot to handle?
Bill Walker is the Project Manager for the Alaska Gasline Port Authority. AGPA is consortium of the City of Valdez, the Greater North Star Borough, and the City of Fairbanks pursuing an all-Alaska natural gas pipeline solution to Valdez. AGPA is partnered with Sempra LNG and Mitusbishi to develop and build an 800 mile natural gas pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez. Mitsubishi is desiging the LNG facility to liquify the natural gas

delivered by pipeline into LNG for transport to market in Asia and elsewhere by LNG tanker. The AGPA plan also calls for the ANGDA spur line off of the main line from Glenallen to Palmer to provide south central with natural gas until known Cook Inlet reserves are brought to market.
Walker is considered a strong proponent of an all-Alaska option for moving Alaska's gas to market.
Parnell may have difficulty in defending his resource development position where any natural gas pipeline project is concerned. Parnell has stated that he will not discuss any option with the Producers until they come to the State with a unified pipeline project.
