Emergency belly landing at MSP closes two runways

A privately owned twin-engine turbo prop aircraft made an emergency landing at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport last night causing the closure of two runways for 4 1/2 hours. The belly landing occurred at 11 p.m. local time and the runways were re-opened at about 3:30 this morning.

Neither the pilot or co-pilot of the blue and white Beechcraft King Air were injured and they walked away from the damaged aircraft. The emergency landing was necessitated by the failure of the aircraft's landing gear to deploy. When the aircraft landed at MSP it skidded off of the landing runway and close to another. This required the closure of two runways. The remaining two runways at the airport were not affected. With the incident happening late at night there was no impact on the small amount of air traffic during the early morning hours.
