A smoky odor aboard Midwest's Flight 1903 from Milwaukee (MKE) to Kansas City International Airport (KCI) prompted an emergency slide evacuation after the Embraer 190 jet landed safely, slightly behind schedule on Monday afternoon, the Associated Press (AP) news agency reported.
Midwest Airlines is being merged with Frontier Airlines and phased out as a brand by owner Republic Airways Holdings, Inc.
Republic's Frontier/Midwest combination is the busiest airline at General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee.
According to the AP article:
KCI Airport spokesman Joe McBride said that no fire was detected after the aircraft landed and 104 passengers and crew exited the plane through safety chutes, and no cause of the smoky smell was immediately determined.
One of the four people who suffered minor injuries was taken to a hospital, according to authorities.
Calls by AP reporters to the airline's media line rang unanswered on Monday evening, the news agency reported.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper story about the incident quotes Frontier Airlines spokeswoman Linsey Purves, who said the captain declared an emergency because smoke was detected in the cockpit, then the plane landed at about 3:30 p.m. and 99 passengers and four crew members were evacuated.
The Midwest Airlines website lists the flight as delayed just under a half hour due to aircraft maintenance and inflight operations.
Kansas City Star newspaper reporters published other details and a photo in their article.

As a passenger on that plane it was pretty shocking and kinda scary. I remember saying before we took off that i had wanted off that plane but sliding down the wings was an experience...
