The Sport Pilot is the fastest and easiest way to get your wings. In a minimum of 20 hours you can have your pilot's license. The cost is around $3000.
Since the Sport Pilot license is the easiest to get, it has the most limitations. Here are a few of the limitations placed on Sport Pilots.
- Maximum gross take off weight cannot exceed 1,230 lbs.
- Maximum speed cannot exceed 120 knots.
- Maximum number of seats is 2.
- Can only fly during the day and not above 10,000 feet.
- The ground must be visible at all times.

For about double 40 hours and $6,000 you can get your full private pilot's license and fly.. say a 4 seater plane and take friends to a destination like Las Vegas or Catalina Island.
