Mark the date on your calendars, and set your DVRs.
Premiering on February 10th, and airing Wednesdays until March 3rd on PBS, Faces of America is yet another genealogy-based television, hosted again by Harvard University professor Henry Louis “Skip” Gates, Jr. Gates previously hosted African-American Lives and African-American Lives 2 on PBS.
These two prior series explored the family histories of some of the country’s leading African-American celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey, Chris Rock, Tom Joyner, Morgan Freeman, and others. Some amazing stories emerged, including one of Morgan Freeman’s ancestors who was interviewed by the Works Progress Administration, and one of Don Cheadle’s ancestors who was enslaved by native Americans. Faces of America is sure to entertain and educate with many more great family histories.
Among the guests slated for this new show are:
· actress Meryl Streep;
· figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi;
· comedian Stephen Colbert;
· musician Yo-Yo Ma;
· author of The Tipping Point and Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell;
· actress Eva Longoria Parker;
· and others.
