Larry Johnson, once a feared NFL running back for the Kansas City Chiefs, is not only failing to produce on the field, but is getting in trouble off it.
Johnson, who insulted his own head coach and also wrote a gay slur on his Twitter page, repeated the same slur when talking to reporters in the Chiefs locker room the next day. He has since been suspended for two weeks.
Larry Johnson's agent, Peter Schaffer, said that an appeal would be filed today.
“We respectfully disagree,” Schaffer said. “This punishment doesn’t fit the action.”
This entire situation has fans puzzled, wondering what did Larry Johnson say that would cause so much controversy and hand wringing. For those interested, The Kansas City Star has audio of Johnson uttering the controversial word. In the clip, a clearly frustrated Johnson says, “Get your f----- a-- out of here” to a reporter.
In a non-related but nonetheless ironic news story, President Barack Obama signed the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes bill into law on Wednesday.
