Chris Brown on Hot 97 interview: 'I don't got anything against homie [Jay-Z]'

Chris Brown went on New York's Hot 97 and spoke with Angie Martinez in an interview that addressed Rihanna, Oprah, and the much talked about Jay-Z rumors.

In the aftermath of the beating Chris Brown gave singer Rihanna, Oprah Winfrey discussed domestic violence this summer on her show.  Oprah opined on the subject, suggesting that once an abuser is always an abuser.  That didn't sit well with Brown, as he mentioned that he had hoped Oprah would reach out to him and lend a helping hand.

Conversely, Brown stated that men like Will Smith and P.Diddy helped him during his time of need.

"As a young black man myself, I need older black male role models to step in and kind of mold me. Not people bashing me, 'cause that's not how you learn from mistakes," Brown told Martinez.

The subject soon turned from Oprah to Jay-Z.  In late June, while BET was prepping for their awards show and Michael Jackson tribute, rumors spread that Jay-Z was telling the network to not invite Brown to the show.  Rumors even suggested that Jay-Z gave BET an ultimatum: if Brown was invited, Jay-Z and his friends would skip the event entirely.

While Jay-Z has denied the rumor, Brown shared his own thoughts.

"I don't know and don't think it was him," Brown said. "I don't got anything against homie."

Brown, a self-proclaimed Michael Jackson fan, was also rumored to have been wanting to perform a dance number in honor of Jackson at the BET Awards.

I agree with Chris, Oprah should have tried to lift him up rather than push him down, she should have done the same with
M J. I am a fan of hers but I was disappointed in the way she reacted to these two young men.
