There are many great inventions and resources that have helped the world advance to what it is today. Some are more memorable and widely used than others, but nonetheless, they all played a great part in history. Take the telephone invented by Alexander Graham Bell. One hundred thirty-three years ago Mr. Bell created away for us to communicate and look at how the telephone has prospered. We can search our history books and go back further in time to find resources that we still use today – the flip flop. These foot coverings, or the lack thereof, date back to primitive days and yet we still have a need to use them.
Flip flops still hold their original concept and are known for their thong like rubber soles in a multitude of colors. At one time they were only acceptable for beach attire, but just like everything, a modern twist has been placed on them to keep up with trends and some designers have taken this stance to an entirely new level.
Take Prada for instance. Known for their exotic leather designer shoes that give you sex appeal have also designed flip flops in a way only they can do. These shoes sold at high end department stores can set you back $195 dollars. Yes, flip flops. Or if you really want to shine pick up a pair of Emilio Pucci’s for a mere $370 bucks. Designer flip flops are outfitted with Italian leather, diamond studs or gold embellishments. Don’t fret there are still places to purchase these durable shoes for much less. Old Navy can set you back $5 for two pairs or at any retail store for less than $6 a pair. To achieve a designer look visit your local craft store and purchase crystal like gems and a glue gun to make your own fashion flip flops.
Fashion trends become absolute very quickly, but flip flops are here to stay. What’s your favorite fashion time piece? Share your comments.
