The September 2010 Fall Fashion edition of Elle Magazine http://www.elle.com reports that a major trend for Fall 2010 will be what I affectionately call the "Gypsy Goth" look. The key component to Gypsy Goth is sheer black lace - sometimes alone over bare skin and sometimes in combination with contrasting shades of pink, champagne, or ivory. Black lace effects are seen in dresses, cardigans and blouses, but also in interesting and unexpected accessories such as purses, earrings, bracelets, and even shoes.
While head-to-toe black lace looks are shown on the runway at Valentino, among others, the way to keep the look modern - so that it's not simply assumed you're on your way to a funeral - is to mix it up a bit with something not quite so Goth. Dolce and Gabbana do this by revealing bare skin under the black lace and by keeping hair and makeup strong, classic, and clean.
To find affordable ways to Recreate Elle's Gypsy Goth look for Fall 2010, I visited Macy's http://www.macys.com, Banana Republic http://www.bananarepublic.com, and Aldo http://www.aldoshoes.com - all at the Mall of America http://www.mallofamerica.com within an easy drive from most of the Twin Cities and larger metro area. The results of my search are in the slideshow below.
