If only they had used a wide-body jet ...
Remember the column I posted earlier this month about airlines and their policies on being too fat to fly in a single seat?
Well, film director Kevin Smith got a firsthand experience of what it's like when the Obese Police are on partrol.
The director of Clerks, Mallrats, and the eminently forgettable Jersey Girl says he was bounced off a Dallas-based Southwest Airlines flight over the weekend because his girth was considered to be a safety risk.
Hell hath no fury like a fat man scorned, apparently. After the humiliating experience, Smith took to his Twitter account and ranted at Southwest with plenty of vengeance.

Southwest did the right thing! I was a Flight Attendant for 20 years, and you need to get real and realize that you are not entitled to put out the people around you becasue you over eat. Get a grip and stop eating, you are gross!
This guy needs to get real. Not only would he be blocking aisle ways in an emergency. He would be spewing excessive gas, taking way too much time on the toilet and his flush could destroy lord knows what below. T
Fat azz dont bitch at the airline. Its not their fault. Nothing wrong with being a bigger person, a lot of us are. The problem is when you blame someone else for your personal issues. Im sure you could have not flown standby and waited for another flight with 2 seats. Give us a break. I will never watch another one of your productions again because of your child like actions. Go Southwest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Smith was already seated, buckled in, and ready to go. He wasn't encroaching upon anyone else's space. Further, because he was already strapped in-- armrests down, no less-- he'd proven that he was capable of fitting into the seat. Did you retards even read the story that this guy linked to?
Speaking of which: if it's just a collection of links, it ain't really an article, chief.
Kevin Smith's a good guy. Seeing anyone bad-mouth him-- particularly when he's so clearly in the right-- is just annoying. As if the people biatching and moaning have never found themselves in a situation where they felt justice wasn't being served.
God, internet commenters are annoying. This is my third-ever comment, and I'm using it to chastise idiots. The Examiner needs a "Do Not Allow Commenters" button on their articles, or better yet, "Do Not Allow Dumb-azzes Who Don't Read The Whole Article Before Speaking to Comment" button.
Commenters = Artarded is the only one who got anything right. No one else here read or bothered to listen to anything Mr. Smith had to say. If you had, you would have learned that he was able to safely buckle his seatbelt and lower his armrests. Not only that, but he was ejected from a plane that had on it as a passenger someone who was significantly larger than he was, and said larger fellow was not ejected from the plane.
Pete, he would not have been blocking the aisle; he was in a middle seat. Lynda, he asked the people around him if he would be bothering them; they both said no. And Kevin, Mr. Smith had already flown to his destination in one seat successfully.
Really, people, before you go ahead any make yourselves look like judgmental jerks, do a little research.
so how many people here honestly don't mind sitting next to someone in those already cramped airline seats who is so fat that they invade your personal space, cant help but use your armrest as well as theirs, and quite often have an odor issue to boot?
if kevin smith spent as much time working on his weight PROBLEM - and yes it is a problem - as much as he is spending trying to excuse it, he wouldn't have a weight problem.
airlines don't make handicap people buy another ticket. the airlines cater to them with special seating. a person could be in a wheelchair because they were drunk driving one night and caused a car wreck killing a family of 4. A person could be fat because of a legitimate medical reason. since airlines can't do background check on every person and they don't charge more money to diabled people, then its inconsistent logic to say that fat people have to pay more money.
Got something to say?
