Patrick Wayne Swayze, up until age 20, pursued multiple artistic and athletic skills such as ice skating, classical ballet, gymnastics and acting.
In 1979 Swayze's first professional appearance was as a dancer for Disney on Parade and on stage as Danny Zuko in the Broadway production of Grease and in film as Ace in Skatetown, U.S.A.
Some of his television and film credits are MASH, The Outsiders, Red Dawn, Youngblood, Dirty Dancing, Ghost, Road House, Point Break, and most recently Christmas in Wonderland (2007), Powder Blue (2008) and The Beast (2009).
In 1987 he received a Golden Globe Award nomination for his role as the dance instructor, Johnny, in Dirty Dancing with co-star Jennifer Grey, and he had also sang one of the songs on the soundtrack. In 1991 Swayze was chosen by People magazine as that year's "Sexiest Man Alive."

FYI, his character's name was Johnny in Dirty Dancing, not Danny.
