More than Groundhog Day is remembered on February 2nd. It is also the birth date of the late actress Farrah Fawcett.
Who would have believed she was over sixty?! Like her sister, she too passed away at 62 of cancer. Farrah fought the odds, but succumbed to the disease June 25, 2009.
A private funeral was held for her. She was survived by her father James, son Redmond and long time partner Ryan O'Neal (father to actress Tatum O'Neal).
Farrah Fawcett will always be remembered as the original fair-haired angel from TV Land's Charlie's Angels.
She was angel Jill Munroe, along with Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson - other angels followed - here they are, along with male cast members:

Kate Jackson (1976–79)
Jaclyn Smith
Cheryl Ladd (1977–81)
Shelley Hack (1979–80)
Tanya Roberts (1980-81)

TV had much more impact back in the '70s than it does today. Charlie's Angels got huge numbers every week. Nothing really dominates the television landscape like that today. Maybe American Idol comes close, but now there are so many channels and so many more shows it's hard for anything to get the audience, or amount of attention, that Charlie's Angels got. Farrah was a major TV star when the medium was clearly dominant."
Farrah Fawcett's reign, as "sex symbol," was in the 1970s and 80s, but she portrayed more than that. She proved her acting abilities in a variety of both television and feature film roles way into the 21st century.
Did all know that Farrah was a sculpter? If not only for the video, still cool...

Farrah was one of the iconic beauties of our time. Her girl-next-door charm combined with stunning looks made her a star on film, TV and the printed page."
Fawcett lived life to the fullest, and that is how she is to be remembered, not what could have been, but what was. ~ Farrah Fawcett's Story was produced by Alana Stewart.
Kate Jackson said of fellow angel:

She was a selfless person who loved her family and friends with all her heart, and what a big heart it was. Farrah showed immense courage and grace throughout her illness and was an inspiration to those around her... I will remember her kindness, her cutting dry wit and, of course, her beautiful smile...when you think of Farrah, remember her smiling because that is exactly how she wanted to be remembered: smiling."
