A 10-day long celebration of fashion, style, and accessories will begin on Thursday, September 23rd through Saturday, October 2nd and will take place in and around the city of Philadelphia, one of the nation's chicest towns. The City of Philadelphia, Center City District, and The Philadelphia Retail Marketing Alliance collaborated to make this fashion initiative happen. Mayor Michael Nutter announced the details of this exciting, fun-filled series on fashion, just this past week during an official press conference.

During the 10-day fashion extravaganza, you'll be able to see more than 40 runway shows, cocktail presentations, trunk shows, panel discussions, workshops, in-store events, lectures, movies, live music, and of course, plenty of the hippest shoppers out on the town. Participating retailers, boutiques, stylists, designers, modeling agencies, and design schools will represent a complete calendar of events over the course of the 10-day series, which was designed to promote Philadelphia and all aspects of its fashion community and support the city's economy. Strategically planned just as New York Fashion Week and Fashion's Night Out are wrapping up, the streets of Philadelphia will be alive with all things fashion.

The series kicks off on September 23rd in Manayunk at the Nicole Miller Main Street boutique as the store unveils an innovative ecoarts exhibit promoting The Schuylkill Project's "Art of Recycling Rain." The installation features a twist on environmentalism with runway models wearing Nicole Miller ensembles and the creative work of world renowned architects Venture Scott Brown and Associates followed by a cocktail reception at Mango Moon in Manayunk.

Some of the featured events scheduled for The Philadelphia Collection 2010 are: the 17th annual Phasion Phest, Macy's Fall Fashion Show with guest Nigel Barker at the city's most iconic location at 13th and Market streets, two Nicole Miller events, the Rittenhouse Row Fall Gathering, "La Bella Vita" Italian Trade Commission event at Boyds, the FBH Fashion and Style Show, The Art Institute and "Taking to the Streets" fashion show and live concert in Germantown by Ron Wilch, the founder of Fashion Lab.

Many of the events are free however some do require tickets to be purchased prior or at the door. A Website dedicated to the series will become available later this month at www.thephiladelphiacollection.org.
