I was honored and excited to be invited for a sneak peak of Lia Sophia's fall/winter 2010 collection being debuted during their 2010 conference "More" in Milwaukee at the US Cellular Arena on June 27th. Here is what I learned about the company and most importantly the trends that they are showing for the upcoming season...

Lia Sophia is a family owned and operated jewelry business named after Tory and Elena Kiam's two daughter's Lia and Sophia. This brand consists of two lines, the "Catalog" line showing costume and trend jewelry ranging from $15.00 to $250.00, and the "Red Carpet" line showing higher end jewelry appealing to celebrities and media admirers in the range of $100.00 to $2000.00 for each piece.

As I was taken through the Catalog line, in a very contemporary decorated banquet room, I noticed a definite flow to this collection. I will describe what their catalog consists of in 5 statements: pearls, mixed metals, stones, circles, and layers. But each statement holds much more meaning and attitude than just one word. Starting out with pearls, shown in different colors and finishes are also shown in layered strands. They radiated the effect of elegant and polished. Black pearls are making a comeback, they really can go trendy or conservative, definitely one of my personal favorite's. Mixed Metals are shown in earings, necklaces, bracelets, and cuffs. The popular finishes mixed were gold, silver, copper, and some black metals. Lia Sophia did an excellent job of mixing stones and metals together in many of the necklaces and bracelets. Stones are used with full force in this line. Just a few options include big glass beads, hematite, tigers eye, turquoise, mother of pearl, quartz, and various crystals.  There was a huge use of the circle shape for fall. Circle designs and patterns play a huge role in the necklaces, bracelets, and cuffs for Lia Sophia. From the Kiam Family Signature Collection the style "Lisa" demonstrates a classy yet artsy use of this circular pattern with a layering effect. Layering, layering, layering...I cannot say it enough. We have seen it trending for summer it is now transitioning into fall and it is definitely still very hot. Lia Sophia shows layering with strands of stones and beading, circular patterns in metal, roping wire with glass beading, different chains, mixed metals you name it, it's shown layered. This trend is fun because something with several strands stands out and brings attention and focus to the neckline, one piece can be the anchor of an outfit.

The catalog line I previewed proves to be nothing less than elegant, eclectic, sassy, and trendy all at the same time. There is something, a piece, a collection, a specific look, for anyone out there looking to put a piece of jewelery on. I would like to thank the Lia Sophia PR team for the invite and for welcoming me into their conference.
