EDD Employment Development Department aids victims of domestic violence

With the national economic crisis being faced by our nation many domestic violence resources and non-profits are experiencing a decline in donations nationally and victims may be feeling the pinch.

Victims of domestic violence in California may be eligible for compensation through the services of the California Employment Development Office.

According to the California EDD brochure, "Individuals who are unemployed or unable to work due to domestic violence abuse may be eligible for partial wage replacement benefit ts from the Employment Development Department (EDD) through the Unemployment Insurance (UI) or State Disability Insurance (SDI) programs. These programs provide temporary payments to workers to ensure that some of life’s necessities can be met during periods of unemployment".

Victims are encouraged to seek more information in their state to learn more about the specific programs available.
