Towson team vows to stick together despite arrests

BALTIMORE (Map, News) - Homecoming is supposed to highlight the football season in college, but this fall the Towson Tigers got some unwanted attention.
The arrests of two players on drug charges just two days before the team welcomed Hofstra for the Tigers’ homecoming game Saturday has shaken the Tiger family.
“It was very surprising. You never really think that anything like that is going on,” senior running back and lacrosse standout Nick Williams said. “I guess that’s just being naive about it. We’re standing behind them, and hopefully everything is dropped.”
Senior defensive back Eric Clark and junior linebacker Trent Covington were arrested Oct. 11 at their Cockeysville apartment. They were charged with marijuana possession and marijuana possession with the intent to distribute.
The pair is indefinitely suspended from both the team and the university.
“Any time you have a big thing like this, it’s a shock and a distraction,” Williams said. “We’re trying to get over it. We still have four games left.”
Towson (3-4 overall, 1-4 conference) is all but out of the Football Championship Subdivision playoff race. But the players won’t let that tear apart the Tigers’ defense.
“After the game, we met in the locker room and we said we’re going to enjoy the season and we’re going to stick together through everything,” senior safety Kenny Scott said. “That’s pretty much been our theme throughout this whole season — sticking together throughout everything. Things are going to work out for us.”
The Tigers visit Colgate Saturday at 1 p.m., looking to extend a 14-game non-conference winning streak.

Coach Combs is the one to blame for this season; if he can't get the players motivated or correct the issues that we are having game after game then maybe he has served our school the best that he can and it is time that he and the program split ways.
