Bel Air, Md. (Map, News) - An apparent gas main break forced the evacuation of Bel Air High School and Middle School late Tuesday morning, officials said.
Sometime before 11 a.m., construction crews working near the high school clipped a gas line and caused a leak, said Bel Air Police spokesman Deputy Chief Armand Dupre. As a precaution, both the high school and adjacent middle school were evacuated.
Crews from Baltimore Gas and Electric were on the scene at 11 a.m. to shut off the gas and repair the leak, Dupre said.
