San Francisco could soon follow London’s footsteps by using bus-mounted cameras to nab drivers who double park in transit-only lanes.

Videotape the double-parking offenders, ticket them and do not let them drive off after the ticket, but tow them. Those drivers that double-park in bus lanes make it even more difficult for MUNI riders to enter and exit the buses safely. They also slow traffic as the MUNI bus is then required to stop in a traffic lane to load and unload passengers. MUNI drivers and riders have it hard enough without inconsiderate, self-involved persons adding to the problem.

If this plan works as well as "Prof of Payment" did on the Muni Metro I do not expect a lot. Just another wasteful MUNI program!!!!

Muni needs to quit worrying about nabbing cars parked temp. what they need to do is put on camera on the driver and how badly they drive.. ie. people being hit by muni buses.. i think the inconsiderate ones are the muni drivers. they are the worst drivers and dont give consideration to cars or pedestrians. fix ur internal problems first and then worry bout double parked drivers

This is a horrible idea. Cameras will not be capable of differentiating between a taxi dropping off a disabled passenger in front of their destination and a car stopping for a slice of pizza in the Tenderloin.

I am a Muni Bus rider and if Muni used their cameras to catch people that like to double park in the bus lane, this would make traffic so much better!Especially the people on the bus trying to get home.

Give those inconsiderate drivers a HUGE fine. Send them to jail if they repeat. They are holding the entire city hostage.

One of the biggest obstacles to free-flowing transit in this city is UPS. It doesn't matter where in the city they're delivering, even when there's space for them to move their trucks out of the traffic flow, they simply stop, put on their flashers, and walk away. We've all read about how UPS factors fine into doing business, but that doesn't soften the impact on the rest of the drivers who are affected by their habits. Other problem companies are Coca-Cola and Budweiser with trailer trucks delivering in areas where smaller vehicles can do the same job without impeding traffic - MUNI buses included. While I'm on this rant; will someone PLEASE explain to MUNI drivers, especially the #22 bus that they should pull ALL of the bus into the bus stop, and not leave most of the bus blocking traffic that could go past them while they drop and pickup passengers? 16th street is a nightmare thanks to inconsiderate bus drivers.
