Three charged in Richmond District extortion

SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - Three suspects are in police custody after allegedly busting up a Richmond District restaurant when the owner would not accept their “protection money.” The suspects Peng Chen, 21; Enrun Lin, 18; and Rui Liu, 19 were arrested Saturday night in a video café on Geary Boulevard.
Chen and Lin are charged with two counts of extortion, two counts of burglary, one count of felony vandalism and one count of conspiracy. Liu has the same charges without the burglary charge.
Chen allegedly approached the owner of a restaurant on the 4100 block of Geary twice over two months to offer “protection money,” and the owner declined both offers. The three suspects, all from The City, then allegedly entered the business Aug. 23 and after closing, refused to pay their bill and smashed up barware, televisions and the front window.
San Francisco police are asking that any additional victims of extortion in the Richmond District contact Inspectors Henry Seto and Jameson Pon of the Gang Task Force at (415) 553-1401.
