Democratic presidential hopeful U.S. Sen. Barack Obama is making a campaign stop in San Francisco today to cultivate support from women and young voters.

The event, sponsored by Generation Obama and Women for Obama, begins at 12:30 p.m. at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.

In addition to the high-profile support of Oprah Winfrey, the Illinois senator has received local endorsement from San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris.

Obama's principal Democratic rival for the presidency, U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., was in San Francisco on Aug. 10 to receive the endorsement of Mayor Gavin Newsom.

She also has been endorsed by U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.

California's primary election takes place Feb. 5.
