Take a look at the immigration laws of some of the countries where the illegal ALIENS have citizenship. No place but America can we have statements like "humans aren't illegal" Please forward all your tax dollars to me,cuz its obvious that you don't care how your tax dollars are spent. Don't give me that crap "they just want to feed their families."bank robbers,murderers,rapists and criminals of all types are trying to "earn" money to feed somebody. Next parking ticket should be sent to the board of stoops. My country,my tax dollars,my laws. Why don't 12-20 million Mexican illegal aliens,have job opportunities in Mexico??? Everywhere that I look in SF, the over-priced clapboard houses from a previous century are going thru upgrades and renovations, and it doesn't take a sleuth to notice that the bulk of the work is being carried out by people, legal & illegal who are busting their asses to make a living. It's naïve to think that the property owners of this city could get this work done w/o this form of labor. It's only the hypocrites who rail against these laborers, until they need their services; then they look the other way. You're only lying to yourselves, and making fools of yourselves in the interim by parroting what the "pundits" are feeding you while you sit on your fat behinds. Plus, most of you are targeting the "Messicans" while other groups, who also have a sizeable representation in legal/illegal immigration, move freely under the radar. So, be adults and call yourselves what you really are - bigots. If this wasn't a topic, you would find another "crusade" to show the world your bigotry.

I can understand Ammiano introducing such a measure. He's responding to his constituents. What I can't figure out is why Gavin is jumping on the bandwagon. Is he BACK ON THE BOTTLE?

Maybe we should pay the illegal aliens for the inconvenience they have suffered for all the identity fraud that they have committed. Let's also make sure that they keep getting free education, free medi-cal benefits, free healthy families insurance and every other benefit that we don't give to Americans. This town makes me ashamed to be a liberal. I have worked with many illegal aliens and the average" progressive" in San Francisco has no concept of the social wear and tear that they take on this city. Our prisons, schools, hospitals, police all have their resources drained by these people.

Just as long as good tax paying citezens get to have more taxes and fees increased to pay for everything the illegal aliens need. Maybe we can make Americans pay to use city parks. Of course, the bums and the illegal alien drug dealers can be allowed free access to all city parks out of recognition for their "plight".

It's bizarre how many people want the illegal aliens here. They are always so happy to have this city filled with illegal aliens, bums, prostitutes and drug dealers. I just hope that I get to pay for more "services" for them, too. Every problem in San Francisco is caused by people like Newsom and Ammiano, who don't like the laws enforced.

Let the people of San Francisco live with illegal aliens. Out side of San Francisco, the ID card issued is not valid . THe same is with CASA in Maryland, Montgomery county funded by County Executive Ike Leggett . I need to vote him out of office ASAP .

I have no problem with immigration. I have numerous issues with undocumented immigration, suffice to say, its fraught with problems, some of them life-threatening. I'd be amazed if this legislation passes, it doesn't end up in the courts for years. As Governor Wilson's anti-immigration legislation got him re-elected (and then was thrown out by the courts), so will Mayor Newsom's pro-undocumented immigration legislation help him get re-elected and likewise, be thrown out by the courts.

Our Board of Supervisors and Mayor Gavin Newsome have an arrogant disrespect for the citizens and the law here in San Francisco. I think its time to replace the Board of Supervisors and Newsome with illegal immigrants, maybe then they’ll get a taste of their own medicine.

I think it's useless. Most of them will not seek ID's because it creates a paper trail. Besides, the city that knows how, needs to adhere to Federal law and start copperating with immigration. If and when this proposed legislation is passed by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and signed into law by Mayor Gavin Newsome hopefully it will end up in court where it will be decided that it's illegal for illegal aliens to "establish residency" and to be given an ID card by The City and County of San Francisco. The members of the Board and the Mayor are sworn to uphold and defend the laws and the Constitution of the United States, something they're not willing to do. The question is why? CHEAP UNDOCUMENTED LABOR performed by people who've entered the country illegally, at the restaurants, the hotels, on the contruction sites, etc., etc., etc. to the detriment of US citizens. It's not about being "liberal" it's about $$$$$$$ every single time!

Check it out - New Haven has had the card and it's already given out 3,000 of them. Now, given that at least some of those cardholders are bleeding heart liberals basking in their malignant narcissism, is 3000 really that much? Could it be that we will offer this chance to come out of the shadows - and the illegals will say "thanks, but no thanks?" It's clear that most illegals do not want (and certainly don't deserve) citizenship - so why force it on them? Many of them find it advantageous to be in the shadows - y'know, just like CRIMINALS! Always remember that the designed purpose of this card is to AID AND ABET LAWBREAKERS! Thankfully, most of the country believes (rightly) that we San Franciscans are clinically insane.

California, as well as most of the country, is getting out of control! I don't understand why these illegals should be given anything but jail time. They are felons when they cross the borders illegally. Why are they not being jailed? If an American commits a crime, they get thrown under the jail, and no benefits are given to them. Any person in this country that can't speak English is illegal. To be legal, they must be able to speak English. All this crap of charging Americans extra money for everything they buy in order to accomodate non English speaking persons is a crime! The illegal immigrant problem will be no more "solved" by passing out ID cards than homelessness was "solved" by passing out $400/month cash to every bum and vagrant who showed up. Liberals are butt-ignorant about how economic incentives influence decision-making. Just like the cash handouts to homeless people, all this will do is provide yet another inducement for illegals to come over the border and head to Camarillo-by-the-Bay. I think this is a great idea. I do not believe the hype. Immigrant are not taking our jobs nor are they draining our government services. By being able to obtain ID cards our streets will be safer and our government will be acting humane to our fellow residents. Even animals have the right to identification. Why not a fellow human being who is trying make a better life for himself and his family. Dont believe the hype and stop scapegoating immigrants. They are not the cause of your stress.

This is an outrage! ILLEGAL immigrants should not be given ANY special prviliges, especially eligibility to participate in the City's Universal Health Care program. These people are NOT law abiding citizens merely because they are here illegally! The cards should be issued to HELP the INS locate and deport the illegal immigrants. This issue needs to be put on the ballot and not just approved by Ammiano and Newsom.

If the Federal Gov't had any backbone, they would sieze those ID card records, round up and deport the card holders, arrest the mayor and supervisors and charge them with RICO violations. Of course, if the Federal Gov't had any brains, they would have come up with a "guest worker" program long ago to bring in people who wanted to work, while locking out criminals and illeterates.
