Prince George’s County (Map, News) - A Prince George’s Circuit Court judge on Thursday postponed a Sept. 10 hearing to determine whether the county needs to make a $2 million payment to the operator of its cash-strapped hospital system.

The county had made the request earlier in the week, and Dimensions Healthcare System agreed to the postponement pending the disposition of the county’s appeal to the Maryland Court of Appeals. Last week, the Court of Appeals put a stay on the Circuit Court’s order for Prince George’s to pay Dimensions $2 million.

The Circuit Court judge had issued a temporary injunction requiring the $2 million payment, but because of appeals the payment hasn’t been made.

In December, the high court will hear why the county believes it shouldn’t have to pay the $2 million, according to an attorney for Dimensions.
