examiNation SF: How do you feel about Ed Jew continuing to hold office while he is on trial?

All politicians are liars.

Using the Democrat model (not democratic)... Ed Jew or anyone else could just as well be indicted by the Feds on bribery charges, like Dem "cold cash" Jefferson, Dem A. Hastings..and remain in Office! Don't forget Dem, scuba boy Ted Kennedy.."Mary Jo Kopechne was not able to be reached for comment". Based on those examples...Sure, he should stay right there, regardless of what crime he may have committed!

Maybe Ed Jew should be on the BURLINGAME City Council and he could then help local businessman with their "permit problems" there.

Our city deserves leaders (and the Board members are city leaders) who can devote their attention to the business of the city. There is no way that Ed Jew can devote his full attention to the City while fighting the very serious charges leveled against him. If Ed Jew truly had the best interests of the City he would step down from the Board of Supervisors until the charges against him are resolved.

The question is, will he voluntarily resign his position while doing time in Federal Prison (playing bi--- to a 300 pound skinhead)? With this twerp's track record, probably not!

We must remember that he is innocent until proven guilty. I do believe that he should have taken a leave from his position until all of this has blown over. I don't want to judge him, but it does not look really good for him. If the facts about his residence are true, which seems to be the case, then he should step down and pay the price. How do you trust someone like this to run our City? I don't want him voting on anything for our City. Bow out now Mr. Jew, before it gets tooooo messy.

I'm just curious as to what will happen when he is removed from office regarding votes he has cast since being endited. A couple of times recently his vote has been one in a 6-5 decision. Can those enties, in one instance the Mission Dislacement Coalition, come back and demand a revote on the relevant legislation once it is determined that he held office illegally.

I am a resident of San Francisco's 4th District in the Sunset and I believe that this case should not have to go to court but that Ed Jew should resign his position with the Board of Supervisors immediately. He claims that he does not want to cost the taxpayers of San Francisco any money for the jury trial and that he wants to begin the case right away. I feel that if he truly thinks in these terms, he should be a man, take responsibility for his actions and resign since he does not appear to be a very trustworthy individual if these allegations of fraud, taking a bribe, filing false registration documents and living in Burlingame instead of San Francisco as it is blantantly clear hold true. It does'nt take a rocket scientist to figure out that the man and his family don't live at his 28th Ave address. How else can you attribute to him surrendering to the Burlingame Police Dept ,& his kids probably don't go to school in the San Franicsco School District he is suppose to be livin

Ed Jew and those who support him are in a state of denial. Even when the court decides the facts in this matter, I feel that Jew and his supporters will still be in a state of denial. They simply do not wish to be confused by the facts.

the mayor should put him on indefinite leave since the evidence is so compelling. His inaction is an embarrassment to our city.

Considering that Jew cast the deciding vote to shoot down "we don't need no army" Gerardo Sandoval's idiot resolution to condemn free speech, I say let him stay. He seems to be - at least this week - the only supervisor who isn't certifiably insane!

I an not Asian but I do feel that the public is full of SSSS, One, Jew has not been found guilty of nothing and honestly all we really know is that he stayed in Burlingame sometime with wife, he stayed in the sunset sometime the question is how much time in one residence? All politicians have something in the dark, I trust Jew more than I trust Newsome, and Newsome begging phone banker bneed to stop calling and begging for money, I would not give gaven a penny

I rather like Supe Jew. BUT: With the trial taking up most of his time and energy, how well can he serve the people of his district? Not well, IMO. So far, he has served reasonably well re Chinatown and business interests, but has been somewhat lacking when it comes to residents esp those in his district. IMO the only reason he continues to hold office is bad advice from his staff and his attorneys who are looking out for themselves, not for Mr Jew.

I have to agree with the Examiner Reader who said that this trial does not look good for Ed Jew. Even if more evidence is brought out against him, it will look even worse than better for him. Either which way, will people trust him again or even his family?

I agree that he is a middle of the road guy and he should have his day in court. But after listening to unbiased neighbors in Burlingame say they saw him all the time and those in SF say they never saw him, it isn't looking too good for him.

DA have a fair amount of information concerning the residency of Ed Jew. None of the info adds up to Ed Jew's claim. He stretched the truth. Just because he has a house in SF doesn't means he lives there. If Jew is as saintly as he claims to be, then he should do the right thing and step down.

Ed Jew is being railroaded. He is one of the very, very few middle of the road conservatives on the board in San Francisco (think Solom and Gomorrah vs. Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) and they don't want him there. He was the only one who stood up for talk show host Michael Savage after Supervisor Sandoval, a left wing socialist, tried to have him removed from radio by twisting Savage's words. In San Francisco only one opinion matters and that is liberal.

This is still America. Even if a politician is a total sleaze, he is entitled to a fair trial in which he is presumed to be innocent unless the prosecuting attorneys can prove he is guilty beyond all reasonable doubt. Supervisor Jew has not presented his defense in the courtroom yet, so ow can we judge him?
