Article History WASHINGTON (Map, News) - Business travelers who take the train from D.C. to New York just got a shorter trip.
Amtrak has shaved 10 minutes off its Acela Express service, which runs daily between the two stops.
The company began test runs of the service last month, according to spokeswoman Karina Romero, in order to make sure the company could meet the new speed goals. The ride between the two cities now takes two hours and 35 minutes.
“We have actually been very successful meeting that schedule,” Romero said.
The ride is between Amtrak’s two most popular destinations. There is no price increase as a result of the shorter commute, Romero said.
The company evaluates twice a year whether to add more frequent routes between cities, but Romero said there are no plans to offer the route more than once a day.

Now, if only Amtrak had daily service to the Midwest from here. It's still better than air travel.
