BALTIMORE (Map, News) - Police cordoned off several blocks of Pratt Street in downtown Baltimore this morning as officials investigated a suspicious package across from the World Trade Center.

Yellow tape and police cruisers surrounded the intersection of Pratt and Commerce streets from 10:20 to 11:20 a.m., bringing traffic to a halt for blocks. The city’s bomb squad was also on the scene.

Officials examined a small, green box with yellow wires and a silver canister left at the base of a lamppost near the Pratt Street pavilion of Harborplace. By 11:30 a.m., police determined that the package was non-threatening and allowed foot and road traffic to resume.

Police are looking for a suspect described as a homeless male who told a witness he was trying to build a radio.
