Carroll County, Md. (Map, News) - Sheriff's deputies are investigating a burglary at a residential construction site where a computer and construction equipment were stolen.
Deputies responded to the construction site at the intersection of Route 30 and Lineboro Road early Monday after a construction worker discovered locked doors were pulled from the frame of two trailers at the site. A laptop computer, saw and gasoline were reported stolen. The items are valued at $2,300, officials reported.
Authorities also are investigating an unrelated burglary where a 1990 yellow Honda ATV was stolen from a locked garage in the 100 block of Main Street in Union Bridge.

Carroll County is seeing a spike in burglaries, according to officials statistics. Burglaries are up 23 percent in the first quarter of 2007 compared to the same period a year ago. Burglaries increased 8 percent in 2006 compared to 2005 figures, according to the 2006 Crime Index Trend, authorities said.
