A new Bay Area dance company will focus on a mix of hip hop and other urban styles.
SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - In what’s being called a Bay Area first, on Sunday, local dancers will have the opportunity to audition before a who’s who of dancer/choreographer-judges in hopes of being chosen as a member of a new troupe, DanceQuake.

DanceQuake will feature an urban style that reflects different cultural influences seen in the Bay Area — melding hip hop with salsa, Afro-Cuban, jazz, swing and others. Dancers chosen for paid positions will perform throughout the Bay Area.

Open-call auditions for DanceQuake will be held Sunday at ODC Dance Commons, 351 Shotwell St. (between 17th and 18th streets), San Francisco.

Space is limited and registration to audition (to get a time and number) is required. Dancers must be 18 or older.

Where's the photo that's with this article in today's paper? I wanted to email it out with the article - ? (Why is there a map instead of the photo? Presumably, if you read the paper, you know where SF is - ?) Best -

LOVE KAHLO! I saw on SFMOMA's website that they've actually extended their hours for this exhibition: until 9:45 p.m. on Thursdays, and 7:45 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. I'm going this weekend, can't wait!

Examiner Reader said:
In place of the exhibit, the San Francisco Art Institute should post a wall-full of the threatening mail it has received. The animal-killing exhibit sounds inexcusable, but violent threats are also inexcusable, and a display of them may make a similar point about humanity and inhumanity.
