Arundel High's Nicole Woody was the first female to make it to the state championship match.

Anne Arundel County (Map, News) - Nicole Woody is taking her high aspirations on the wrestling mat to Oklahoma City University. Woody, who graduated from Arundel High last month, signed with the Stars Tuesday and will take the mat at the only university in the nation with a fully funded women’s wrestling program.

Oklahoma City wrestling coach Archie Randall said Woody will spend the summer “bulking up” in order to take her place at the 48 kilograms (105 pounds) spot in the lineup.

She’ll join 32 other girls this season, as Randall tries to prepare them for the 2008 Olympic trials. He wants every wrestle to have between 30 to 40 matches this season so they’re read.
