Carroll County, Md. (Map, News) - Vandals have left more than $10,000 in damage in their wake as car windows were shattered in a Mount Airy neighborhood during the weekend.
Carroll County Sheriff Lt. Phil Kasten said about a dozen cars were hit in the Mount Airy Manor Estates neighborhood Saturday and Sunday. Eleven vehicles parked in the 700 block of Horpel Drive were damaged on Sunday, he said.
Sheriff’s officials received two calls shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday from residents who were awakened by the sound of shattering glass.
Kasten said the cars all had broken windshields. Some sustained other damage, he said.
He said the vandals apparently used a bat in the attacks.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Sheriff Department’s anonymous tip line at 1-888-399-8477.

Approximately $22 million dollars in graffitti abatement. That money could be better spent to help the city's homeless and mentally ill populations. These taggers are self-centered idiots.

Mt Airy said:
Mt Airy needs for the national guard to come in and patrol the streets because people are sick and tired of the crime. Yet, all of our money is going to free health care, clothing, food, shelter for the illegal people. When is this going to stop. Not soon enough

You didn't think at all. The question to be asked is where were the citizens? The police can't be everywhere but they'll get where they're needed if people like you were alert to what is happening in the community. What's your beef, anyway: Get a ticket lately?
