Dane Cameron, the 18 year-old rookie from Sonoma who went to Cleveland leading the driver championship despite being knocked out of the previous event in Portland, Ore., was fastest in every session, started from the pole and finished second in his JDC Racing/Finlay Motorsports Mazda. He continues to lead with 218 points with three poles, two wins and one second-place and two fourth-place finishes. Cameron finished second in the 2006 Formula Ford 2000 national championship and was Rookie of the Year.
Fourth in the championship with 187 points is Ron White of Santa Clara, who has won top karting championships in both the U.S. and Europe. He finished fifth at Cleveland in the Team G.FRO/Wunder-Bar Mazda to extend give him two podium finishes as well as two top-fives and one top-10.
MUSGRAVE SUSPENDED, FINED
Ted Musgrave was suspended one race for retaliating against another driver during the Truck Series race at the Milwaukee Mile. The 2005 Truck Series champion must sit out Saturday night’s race at Memphis Motorsports Park. He was also penalized 50 points, fined $10,000 and placed on probation through the end of the year.
