A Stevensville man was sentenced to life in prison for forcing himself on a woman after carjacking her in downtown Annapolis last summer.

Anne Arundel Circuit Judge Paul Harris also sentenced Walter Jose Grey III, 28, of Virginia Road, to 30 years in prison Tuesday for another carjacking that occurred two months later in July 2006, said Kristin Riggin, a spokeswoman for the Anne Arundel State’s Attorney’s Office.

She said Harris described this case as “one of the most disgusting rape cases” he had ever seen during his time on the bench.

The state requested a life sentence, Riggin said.

In May 2006, Grey carjacked a woman in parked on City Dock, displaying a bulge under his shirt that suggested a gun, according to charging documents.

Grey forced her to drive into a nearby wooded area, where he raped her.

Afterward, Grey had the woman drive to an ATM and take out $100 for him, according to court papers.

Two months later, Grey approached another woman as she was getting out of her car parked on Newman Street in Annapolis, according to court documents.

Grey, his hand again concealed beneath his shirt, forced his way into the car and had the woman drive him around, threatening to kill her if she screamed, according to court documents.

The woman jumped out of the car during a stop, and Grey ran off on foot.

Police arrested Grey the following week, based on descriptions provided by both women.

He is being held at the Anne Arundel Detention Center.
