Gaithersburg-based Gene Logic, a biopharmaceutical drug-development firm, announced it has agreed to partner with pharmaceutical giant Abbott Laboratories Inc. Illinois-based Abbott manufactures such drugs as Synthroid, Humira, Meridia, Depakote and nutritional supplement Ensure.

The agreement enables Gene Logic to receive success-based milestone payments for each drug candidate that Abbott returns to clinical development and royalties for each drug product candidate that becomes a marketed drug, a release stated.
