Harford County commuters will get thank-you presents for using carpools or bus lines throughout the rest of the month.

As part of Harford’s observance of National Clean Commute Month, officials from the office of Commuter Assistance will be handing out gift bags at various MTA bus stops and at Park & Ride lots.

While the bus-stop visits are supposed to be a surprise, officials have scheduled when they will visit the Park & Ride lots: They will be at the MVA Park & Ride May 16; the Hickory Park & Ride May 21; the Havre de Grace Park & Ride May 23; the Marywood Park & Ride May 31 and the Fallston Park & Ride June 4. The events will run from 6:15 a.m. until the last buses leave, said Pat Fielder, Harford’s coordinator for Clean Commute Month.

The thank-you bags will contain coupons for local businesses and transit services, as well as copies of a commuter survey that can be exchanged for chances to win prizes such as dinner at Main Street Tower Restaurant in Bel Air or a round of golf at Mountain Branch Golf Course, Fielder said.
