The Columbia Association, Howard County Storm Water Management Division and Howard County Office of Emergency Management plan to explore this question May 17 during a training exercise to test a what-if scenario.
Officials will test emergency action plans for response in case of a dam emergency at the county’s six stormwater management ponds and lakes.
The lakes and ponds being reviewed during the exercise include Centennial Lake, Lake Elkhorn, Wilde Lake, a pond off Samuel Morse Drive in the Columbia Gateway office park, a pond in the North Laurel Park subdivision off Sewell Avenue and a pond in Wyndemere in North Laurel.
During the exercise, officials will provide information on the ponds and lakes and emergency action plans.
The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the CA Supreme Sports Club.
