SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - Twin sisters Britney and Courtney Buster provided the juice on the mound and at the plate Monday, leading fourth-seeded International Studies Academy to a come-from-behind 7-6 win over fifth-seeded Galileo in the San Francisco Section softball playoffs. The Cobras (11-9) advance to play second-seeded Lowell on Wednesday at South Sunset Field.

This win did not come easily. Courtney Buster struggled with her control, walking the bases full in the first inning, which led to two runs. The Lions (9-10) then added three in the top of the fifth to take a 5-1 lead.

But Britney Buster responded in the bottom of the inning, ripping a triple with the bases loaded to tie the score 5-5. Courtney Buster gave up an unearned run in the top of the sixth, but then righted herself by driving in the go-ahead run with a single in the bottom half of the same inning.

Courtney Buster got the complete-game win, giving up five hits, walking eight and striking out six. Nicole Lam, who drove in three runs for Galileo, went the distance on the mound for the Lions.

Washington 19, O’Connell 2

Amanda Yee fired a no-hitter as the third-seeded Eagles knocked off the Boilermakers in three innings to advance to the semifinals.

Sixth-seeded O’Connell scored two runs in the top of the first inning without the benefit of a hit, but Washington responded in a big way. The first seven Eagles batters all scored in the bottom of the first and, by the time the inning was over, Washington had scored 12 runs. Leading hitters for the Eagles included Tammy Visser (4-for-4), Yee (3-for-3) and Jillian Diaz (2-for-3). A’ree Hewitt added an inside-the-park home run in the top of the second for Washington, which plays No. 2 Lowell on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at South Sunset.

“We’re gonna have to come with our A-game to beat ’em,” Washington coach Carrie Wert said. “It’s gonna have to come within themselves.”
