U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., pledged support to small-business owners devastated by the three-alarm blaze at Eastern Market in a letter to D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty on Monday. Kerry, who chairs the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, told Fenty that the Small Business Administration could be able to help with low-interest loans to help rebuild. A handful of small vendors, many of whom have worked out of Eastern Market for decades, had their businesses destroyed when a fire gutted the facility’s South Hall early Monday. No one was hurt.
