The team, Veros, won $10,000, two tickets to TechNite (the region’s business and technology social event), a Web site donated by Systems Alliance and a year of free office space at the Emerging Technology Center, donated by Baltimore City.
Veros members Stephen Chen, Stephanie Huang, Jason Hsu and Jeffrey Choi designed a plan to market and sell a modified syringe with an attached pre-pressurized vein- confirmation chamber. A contest-provided business adviser, Matthew Kraft of Advertising.com, helped them design their plan.
CVision Medical Solutions, another team of Hopkins students, placed second. They created a medical device that uses ultrasound to measure blood pressure in the heart.
