Laureate Education Inc., a Baltimore-based provider of higher education, saw increases both in student enrollment and in first-quarter 2007 revenues, the company announced last week.

Campus-based institutions reported a total enrollment increase of 15 percent, to 227,900 students, driven by a 20 percent increase in new student enrollment.

First-quarter revenues topped out at $283.5 million, a 21 percent rise over 2006’s first-quarter total of $235.1 million.

At the end of the first quarter, Laureate reported total cash and marketable securities at right around $114.6 million, with total debt at $469 million.
