Johns Hopkins University announced Wednesday that it has canceled its lists of suggested lenders compiled for students and their families by financial aid offices in response to an investigation of the college loan business by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.

The university will comply with a code of conduct proposed by Cuomo to govern the relationship between universities and student loan companies.

The decision comes after news that a financial aid director at the university accepted about $65,000 from CIT Group Inc., parent company of Student Loan Xpress Inc., one of Hopkins’ preferred lenders.

Johns Hopkins immediately placed the financial aid director, Ellen Frishberg, on administrative leave with pay.
