That's what The Baltimore Examiner is. After 26 years in this industry at papers ranging from those serving small communities to big cities, I have experienced firsthand many of the challenges newspapers face.
In 2006, on April the 5th, The Baltimore Examiner launched to meet the challenges of the 21st-century and make the best of the changes in our newspaper industry. The market acceptance here, by our readers and advertisers, proves that.
Our readers love The Baltimore Examiner. I hear it in phone calls. I hear it on the street. And I hear it at community meetings. Mostly, I hear it from the friends I made when I lived here before.
From personal experience I can say by more than a margin of 10 to one people ask me about how to receive our paper as opposed to how to cancel it. And those negative calls have trickled off to almost nothing.
Our advertisers love The Examiner because of the return on their investment. The reason? The Examiner delivers to the households advertisers want.
All that is the result of a lot of hard work by Clarity Publishing, founding Publisher Michael Phelps and the incredible team he put together a little over a year ago.
Phelps and his team built The Baltimore Examiner on our company's four fundamental principles: We strive to be a great value to our readers; a great value to our advertisers; a great employer, and a great corporate citizen and community partner.
According to a Certified Audit of Circulations at six months after launch, on an average day, about 359,000 adults read The Examiner.
That makes The Examiner the biggest daily medium in Maryland.
I am proud of what this team has accomplished and honored to be able to join them. Iām prouder still of what The Baltimore Examiner is going to accomplish in the future.
Hundreds of thousands of Baltimore-area residents are better citizens now because they are better informed, through ā in the words of The Examiner motto ā Daily Intelligence.
Ultimately, that will help us to build better communities, a better Maryland, and a better nation.
