The Howard County Health Department is joining agencies across the country to highlight National Public Health Week 2007.

The theme this year is “Take the First Step! Preparedness and Public Health Threats: Addressing the Unique Needs of the Nation’s Vulnerable Populations.”

Howard Health Officer Peter Beilenson encourages residents to have an emergency plan in place and to stock up on supplies before an emergency occurs. Howard’s Health Department, senior centers, libraries, churches and community groups are working together to provide information and support to help the most vulnerable. Information boards and literature will be available at libraries, senior centers and government buildings.
